Samenvatting

  • De effecten van een eenmalige scholing van zorgverleners op het professioneel handelen en uitkomsten van zorgverlening zijn beperkt, maar kunnen desalniettemin klinisch relevant zijn.
  • Factoren die de effectiviteit van scholing zouden kunnen verhogen zijn langere tijdsduur, een optimale groepsamenstelling, behoeftepeiling voorafgaand aan de scholing, actieve deelname, individualisering en gebruik van lokale opinieleiders.
  • Hoewel de effecten van educatie op gedrag beperkt lijken, is educatie vaak een noodzakelijke eerste stap in een proces van implementatie van vernieuwingen. Educatie is vooral zinvol als het onderdeel is van een bredere implementatiestrategie, die ook andere activiteiten omvat.
