10 Huid- en wondverzorging

Samenvatting

De huid is het grootste orgaan van het menselijk lichaam. Stoornissen van de huid, in dit verband wonden genoemd, vormen slechts zelden de directe aanleiding om een patiënt op een intensive-care-afdeling op te nemen. Wel kunnen wonden, bijvoorbeeld brandwonden, aanleiding geven tot een verstoring van de vitale lichaamsfuncties, waarvoor een patiënt dan intensieve zorg nodig heeft. Op de intensive care zullen de verschillende typen wonden dus meestal in combinatie met een andere aandoening te zien zijn. Een behandeling op een IC-afdeling kan ook aanleiding geven tot het ontstaan van wonden. Hierbij moet bijvoorbeeld gedacht worden aan decubitus. Verpleegkundigen hebben een belangrijke rol in de preventie en behandeling daarvan.
