Samenvatting

De somatosensibele informatie vanuit de hals, de romp en de extremiteiten bereikt via de spinale zenuwen en hun achterwortels de gehele lengte van het ruggenmerg, terwijl dezelfde informatie vanuit het gelaat via de n. trigeminus (n.V) naar de hersenstam gaat. De organisatie van de spinale en trigeminale somatosensibele systemen die zowel perifeer als centraal als een continuüm moeten worden beschouwd, wordt in dit hoofdstuk besproken.
