Samenvatting

Hart- en vaatziekten (HVZ) zijn nog steeds de meest voorkomende oorzaak van sterfte in Nederland en andere geïndustrialiseerde landen. In Nederland overleden in 2006 42.522 personen (gemiddeld 116 personen per dag) aan de gevolgen van een hart- of vaatziekte.
