Visuo-spatieel neglect: hoe te meten? Een kritisch overzicht van de literatuur

Abstract

Hersenbloedingen en herseninfarcten (cva) en traumatisch hersenletsel hebben vaak cognitieve stoornissen tot gevolg. Eén van deze cognitieve stoornissen is neglect, ook wel omschreven als halfzijdige verwaarlozing. In de literatuur komt geen uniforme definitie van het begrip ‘neglect’ naar voren (De Kort, 1996). Heilman (1984) heeft geprobeerd een zo volledig mogelijke beschrijving te geven. Deze luidt als volgt: ‘a patient with the neglect syndrome fails to report, respond, or orient to novel or meaningful stimuli presented to the side opposite to a brain lesion.’
