Introductie

Jonge sportieve mensen die een totale heupoperatie moeten ondergaan, vragen bijna altijd aan hun chirurg of fysiotherapeut of sporten na de operatie nog mogelijk is. Hoewel er wetenschappelijk nog niet zoveel over bekend is, zijn er inmiddels wel richtlijnen die gebruikt kunnen worden om de patiënt hierin te adviseren.

Dit hoofdstuk beschrijft de risico’s die sporten met een endoprothese met zich meebrengen. Verder worden de takken van sport genoemd die men zonder veel risico kan beoefenen en de sportactiviteiten die men beter kan vermijden.
