Spirometrie

Samenvatting

In dit artikel komen verschillende aspecten van de eerstelijns spirometrie aan de orde, zoals de huisartsgeneeskundige indicaties voor spirometrie, de kwaliteit van spirometrie in de huisartspraktijk, de interpretatie van testresultaten door huisartsen, hoe vaak huisartsen spirometrie gebruiken bij belangrijke indicaties en verschillende alternatieve organisatievormen van spirometrie voor huisartspraktijken. Ter afsluiting wordt een casusbeschrijving gegeven om de waarde van spirometrie in de diagnostiek van chronische luchtwegaandoeningen te illustreren. De conclusie is dat spirometrie een waardevol instrument is voor huisartsen, maar dat er in de dagelijkse praktijk nog het nodige te verbeteren valt. Daarbij gaat het vooral om het interpreteren van de meetuitkomsten door huisartsen en het stimuleren van huisartsen om spirometrie te (blijven) gebruiken.
