Psychotherapeutische behandelmogelijkheden bij sociale fobie

Samenvatting

In dit artikel wordt een overzicht gegeven van de psychotherapeutische behandelingen bij sociale fobie. Een sociale fobie is een hardnekkige angst voor een of meer situaties waarin de betrokken persoon is blootgesteld aan de mogelijk kritische beoordeling door anderen en waarin die persoon bang is zich belachelijk te maken. Er is vrij veel onderzoek gedaan naar de behandeling van sociale fobie. Dit onderzoek wordt op een rij gezet. Vervolgens wordt ingegaan op de differentiële diagnostiek van sociale fobie met de overige angststoornissen en worden verschillende theoretische modellen gepresenteerd. De verschillende behandelmogelijkheden worden beschreven, waarna in de beschouwing wordt ingegaan op de mogelijke rol van de huisarts en waar toekomstig onderzoek zich op zou kunnen richten.
