Samenvatting

De neuropsychologie bestudeert de relaties tussen hersenen en gedrag. Bij de klinische toepassing van de neuropsychologie bij kinderen en jeugdigen gaat het om het leggen van verbanden tussen problemen in het gedrag in de breedste zin van het woord en het disfunctioneren van de hersenen in ontwikkeling. In dit hoofdstuk zal het met name gaan om de klinische ontwikkelingsneuropsychologie voor de leeftijd van nul tot achttien jaar, die betrekking heeft op het diagnosticeren en behandelen van de gevolgen van hersendisfuncties op de functionaliteit van een zich snel ontwikkelend zenuwstelsel.
