Samenvatting

Niet-invasief beeldvormend onderzoek is van groot belang bij de behandeling van patiënten met cardiovasculaire aandoeningen. Vrijwel alle patiënten verdacht voor of bekend met cardiovasculair lijden ondergaan één of meer beeldvormende onderzoeken. De informatie uit deze onderzoeken is vaak cruciaal bij het stellen van de diagnose, het vaststellen van de ernst van de aandoening of het beloop van de ziekte. Nucleaire technieken worden vooral toegepast bij de evaluatie van ischemische hartziekten, waarbij bepaling van de myocardiale perfusie onder verschillende fysiologische omstandigheden meestal een integraal onderdeel vormt van de behandeling. Afhankelijk van de gebruikte detectieapparatuur spreken we van ‘single-photonemission computed tomography’ (SPECT) of positronemissietomografie (PET).
