Samenvatting

In dit hoofdstuk wordt de klinische toepasbaarheid van functionele capaciteitsevaluatie (fce) besproken als screeningsinstrument voor arbeidsbelastbaarheid bij aspecifieke lage-rugklachten. Hierbij worden de resultaten van een recent promotieonderzoek naar de validiteit en betrouwbaarheid van fce afgezet tegen de praktische toepasbaarheid. Daar langdurig arbeidsverzuim, als een belangrijk gevolg van verminderde arbeidsbelastbaarheid, een aanzienlijke impact heeft op de kosten van de gezondheidszorg en het socialezekerheidstelsel, zal het uitvoeren van een fce worden besproken vanuit een arbo-curatief gezichtspunt.
