Zusammenfassung

Die Behandlung eines Mehrfachverletzten (Polytrauma) stellt eine besondere Herausforderung für die behandelnden Ärzte und das Intensivpflegepersonal dar. Erfahrung, rasche Diagnosestellung und effizientes Handeln entscheiden über das Schicksal dieser Patienten. Die Versorgung Schwer- und Mehrfachverletzter erfordert ein Höchstmaß an Organisation, eine gut ausgebaute Logistik und einen hohen Ausbildungsstand der behandelnden Ärzte und Pflegepersonen. Gerade im Bereich der Intensivmedizin ist eine enge Zusammenarbeit zwischen Arzt und Pflegepersonal erforderlich. Die Anwendung von standardisierten Konzepten in der Behandlung und Pflege des Schwerverletzten hat sich in den letzten Jahren durchgesetzt. Es gibt Maßnahmen, die grundsätzlich bei allen Patienten durchzuführen sind, sowie spezielle Pflege- und Behandlungsmodule, die bei der Behandlung von einzelnen kritischen Verletzungen ihre Berücksichtigung finden.
