Zusammenfassung

Beim polytraumatisierten Patienten folgt auf den traumatisch-hämorrhagischen Schock ein äußerst komplexes multifokales pathophysiologisches Geschehen, welches prinzipiell zum Ziel hat, den durch das Trauma entstandene Gewebeschaden abzubauen und eine Regeneration zu erzielen. Die Summe dieser Reaktionen wird als ≫host defense response≪ bezeichnet. Aufgrund der besonderen Situation beim schwerstverletzten Patienten laufen diese Reaktionen häufig nicht mehr geordnet ab, einzelne Systeme aktivieren bzw. potenzieren sich sogar gegenseitig. Gemeinsame Endstrecke dieser Reaktionen ist die Entwicklung eines Einzel- oder Multiorganversagens.
