3 Bewegingsstoornissen in het kaakgewricht

Samenvatting

» Soepele kaakgewrichtsbewegingen zijn essentieel voor het kauwen, spreken en lachen. Bewegingsstoornissen in het kaakgewricht, zoals de zogenoemde anterieure discusverplaatsing en symptomatische hypermobiliteit, kunnen deze functies bemoeilijken. Beide bewegingsstoornissen gaan vaak gepaard met gewrichtsgeluiden en kunnen erin resulteren dat de mond tijdelijk niet goed open of dicht gaat. Dergelijke bewegingsstoornissen komen veelvuldig voor. Daarom is zowel het herkennen van deze stoornissen als kennis van de etiologie, prognose en behandelopties belangrijk. De noodzaak tot actieve behandeling is er voornamelijk in het geval van gewrichtsblokkades, waarbij fysiotherapie een belangrijk onderdeel van de behandeling is.
