11 Patiëntkarakteristieken, het gezondheidsprobleem en het fysiotherapeutische behandelproces bij patiënten met hoofd-, hals- en nekklachten

» Klachten aan het hoofd, de hals en/of de nek (HHN) komen veel voor binnen de algemene eerstelijns fysiotherapiepraktijk. Ondanks de vele effectstudies naar behandelvormen bij deze patiëntencategorie, ontbreekt een overzicht van patiëntkarakteristieken, het gezondheidsprobleem en het huidige fysiotherapeutische behandelproces van patiënten met HHN-klachten. Dit artikel laat zien dat in Nederland in 2009 13,8% van de patiënten die een algemene eerstelijns fysiotherapeut bezochten, dat deed vanwege aspecifieke nekklachten, een cervicaal syndroom of hoofdpijnklachten. Het zijn voornamelijk vrouwen van rond de 50 jaar die geleidelijk klachten zijn gaan ervaren. Tijdens de behandelingen worden manuele technieken veelvuldig toegepast in combinatie met oefentherapie. De kans van slagen van de fysiotherapeutische behandeling is groot: bij ruim 86% van de patiënten wordt minimaal driekwart van de behandeldoelen bereikt.
